Fabric weight is measured in grams per meter (g) or ounces per yard (oz). It affects warmth, drape and how a suit holds its shape.
- Lightweight, 220–260 g (7.5–9 oz): Florida's year-round range
- Midweight, 260–300 g (9–10.5 oz): the classic all-season weight, great for travel north
- Heavyweight, 300 g+ (10.5 oz+): flannels and tweeds for real winters
Weave Matters Too
An open weave (like fresco or hopsack) breathes far better than a dense one at the same weight. That's why a lighter, open cloth often feels cooler than you'd expect.
Summer Blends
Wool, silk and linen blends are the classic warm-weather suiting: cool like linen, but with wool's resistance to wrinkles.
